An early and original student of Shimabuku Tatsuo Soke, Grand Master Lizotte opened a Dojo in the Enfield, Connecticut area in 1966. A few years later he then moved on to Holyoke, Massachusetts and opened a dojo. He also taught in his home in Somers, Connecticut until opening the current dojo in Enfield, Connecticut. In 1967, Grand Master Lizotte began training with Grand Master Steve Armstrong, who at that time was the owner, director and Chairman of the Board of the AOKA, an organization founded by Tatsuo Shimabuku, Harold Mitchum, and Steve Armstrong in 1960. Grand Master Armstrong was also one of the chosen Americans to head Isshin-Ryu Karate in the United States. Grand Master Armstrong is also the only American that was promoted to 10th Dan by Grand Master Shimabuku Tatsuo. Grand Master Lizotte came up through the ranks being promoted to black belt by his second instructor Grand Master Nagle and then by Grand Master Armstrong and the AOKA. Grand Master Lizotte personally teaches the Black Belt instructors class at the Inner Peace Dojo. Grand Master Lizotte is currently a 10th Dan in Isshin-Ryu Karate, and is the owner, director, and chairman of the board of the AOKA.
