Dr. Gagnon believes that all
martial artists should not only be able to handle themselves against fists
or knives but also the kind of modern weapons which may be wielded by
terrorists. Many Dojo are now making modern weapon training a
regular part of their curricula. In December, 2004, Sensei Gagnon
taught the first Isshinryu Karate Do, Stamford Dojo Seminar in Modern
Weaponry.
After a rapid deflection of the wrist with a simultaneous grasp of
the gun, Sensei Gagnon pins the gun backward so that it cannot be fired at
him and also will inflict pain and compliance on the user. From
there, a full change in the flow of the energy is possible which will lead
to throwing the perpetrator off of his feet to the defenders left side. |
